Our Story
Since 1952, our flower shop—originally known as Henderson’s Flowers—has been part of St. Louis’ most stylish history. Nestled in the chic West End on Euclid Avenue, the shop was surrounded by refined neighbors: stately homes built for the 1904 World’s Fair, luxury apartments, and the majestic St. Louis Cathedral. This was the heart of a cultured city, and our clientele reflected that: tasteful, loyal, and always expecting the best.
When Mr. Henderson was ready to pass the torch, a new chapter began under the stewardship of Ken Miesner. With a natural eye for elegance and an unwavering standard for excellence, Ken elevated the shop into something truly extraordinary. Weddings, galas, and private events became showcases of style. His floral arrangements weren’t just admired—they were remembered.
Soon after acquiring the shop, Ken was invited to move to a new kind of destination: Plaza Frontenac. With anchors like Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, the mall promised a level of luxury previously unseen in the region. Ken saw the future—and brought his customers with him. They followed him not just for flowers, but for the experience: curated antiques, fine art, statuary, and even the charm of his beloved King Charles Spaniels. His boutique became as much a salon of beauty as a flower shop.
For over four decades, Ken Miesner’s Flower Shoppe flourished. It became synonymous with impeccable taste, discretion, and artistry. It was never just about flowers—it was about the feeling they gave, the memory they created, and the standard they upheld.
In 2016, after a remarkable career, Ken sought a successor with vision, integrity, and reverence for the craft. That person was David J. Bovier, an artist in his own right and a guardian of the shop’s rarefied legacy.
Today, under David’s thoughtful guidance, Ken Miesner’s Flower Shoppe continues to serve a discerning clientele with elegance, warmth, and exceptional artistry. Every stem is selected with care. Every arrangement tells a story. Nothing leaves our doors unless it is extraordinary.

David J. Bovier’s journey into the world of floral design began, as many of the best stories do, by chance. Over 30 years ago, he accepted a position at a small neighborhood flower shop—sweeping floors, processing stems, and learning the rhythms of the floral world from the ground up. Though the tasks were humble, the flowers captured his imagination. Their form, texture, and quiet drama awakened something in him.
Recognizing David’s natural eye for design, the shop’s owners encouraged him to explore the craft more deeply. What followed was a devoted period of study: workshops, master classes, design seminars, and countless hours spent learning under the guidance of seasoned designers. Floral design became more than a skill—it became a calling.
His next chapter brought him to St. Louis’ famed LaSalle Street—known as “Floral Row”—where he gained a deeper understanding of the wholesale side of the industry. It was here that David refined his knowledge of seasonality, sourcing, and quality—principles that continue to guide his work today.
Over the years, David would go on to work with some of the region’s most respected high-end floral and design studios. These spaces, often blending floral artistry with fine furnishings, antiques, and interior design, further shaped his refined, layered approach to aesthetics. He absorbed not only technique but taste.
In 2016, a new opportunity emerged—one that felt both serendipitous and inevitable. Ken Miesner, a name synonymous with elegance and excellence in floral design, was ready to entrust his beloved shop to a new steward. David, with his artistry, professionalism, and deep respect for tradition, was the natural choice.

Do you offer same-day flower delivery in St. Louis?
Yes, we provide same-day delivery in St. Louis for orders placed online before 12:00 PM. If you like, call us directly to see if we can still provide you with same day delivery after the online cutoff time. We may still be able to make a same-day delivery.
Can I order online or by phone?
You may order either way. You can order online anytime at miesnersflowers.com or by phone at (314) 567-6650 during our business hours (Mon-Fri 9:00 AM-4:00 PM, Sat 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, Sun Closed).
Can I request certain flowers or colors?
Of course! We suggest choosing "Custom Arrangement" from our catalog. Let us know your preferred flowers or color palette in your description. While some blooms may be seasonal or limited, we’ll do our best to create an arrangement that reflects your vision. Let us know if you would like to be notified of substitutions.
What happens if the recipient isn’t home?
If the recipient is unavailable, our driver will call them for instructions. If the customer allows, we either leave the flowers in a safe spot (weather permitting) or arrange a re-delivery.
Do you deliver flowers to hospitals, offices, or event venues in St. Louis?
Yes, we deliver to homes, hospitals, businesses, and venues across St. Louis. Please provide the full address, including a phone number, and any delivery notes during checkout. Please note, if the recipient is in ICU, we are not able to deliver flowers.
How do I make my flowers last longer?
Our flowers are carefully processed by our team to ensure maximum vase life. We use floral food and a preservative in the water. We recommend adding water to the vase when needed. There is no need to change the water completely or to recut flower stems. Avoid placing the flowers in direct sunlight or in warm, dry rooms.

Yes. The option to do this through the website is in the works. In the meantime, you may call or email us directly. We will create orders for whatever occasions you need flowers for, either custom arrangements or bouquets from our pictured selections. As our selections change seasonally, we can send you our options for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, or other specific seasons. Have your delivery dates ready, along with your card message for each delivery when you call or email us.
